My Unborn Child
Deborah Darby
November 2002
I only knew of your presence
for two short weeks,
but the love I felt for you
was immeasurable.
I prayed fervently for God
to keep you safe inside me,
but my prayers went unanswered!
I asked God to nourish you
and help you grow inside me,
but my request went unanswered!
I pleaded with God to allow you
to arrive a healthy and happy baby,
but my pleas went unanswered!
I sit here and wonder...
You were only a six week old embryo,
so tiny in form, you went unnoticed
on the ultrasound machine ~~
Does that mean you didn't have a Soul?
I have to believe with all my heart
that you did...
(even though my faith escapes me).
I want to believe that you're up in Heaven
enjoying the life you never got to experience
down here on earth.
I want to believe that you're smiling down
on me while you're laughing and playing
with the Angels.
I want to believe all of this because it would
hurt that much more to know that your short
existence was meaningless and void.
I have to believe all of this...
(even though my faith escapes me).
I only knew of your presence
for two short weeks,
but the love I felt for you was
IMMEASURABLE!
You heartbroken mommie
Comments: I wrote this poem in honor of my beautiful little Angel whom I misscarried at 16 weeks on 11-9-02.
