For MJ
by Blu Babe

I feel so alone

There are so many around me

Pushing me, nudging me 2 move on

2 forget about u

2 deny that u were real

That u lived

That u were a person just like me

I should cut my losses

That it's for the best,
they say

But how can one be so cruel, I say

How can I deny life?!

Deny ur face

No matter how peaceful and still

U

U are beautiful

U are love, made from love

Made from God

U are truth

Truth that divided and spun in infinity

Truth that lept, stirred, and lay close 2 me

Truth that struggled and fought

Truth that too soon burst forth

A truth I could hold lovingly in trembling arms

A truth I could sweetly smell

I could touch

I could validate, protect, celebrate and vindicate

Even if for a small eternity

U were real

U ARE real!!

I don't care what they say

U are my joy

U are my SON!!

Blu Babe is a 30-something mother (still), living in the Southern part of the US who loves God, her family, her partner, and her child. This poem is a reflection of the anguish I faced during the first initial days following the loss of my son. It is also a testament to the loving connection mother and child from the womb and to the reaffirmation that we are still moms even though our children have gone before us.
